Annual Meeting Review
April 9, 2008

The WGFHA Annual meeting was held on March 24th at 7PM, at the Covenant Baptist Church on the corner of Walnut Grove and Sanga Road. We had a pretty good crowd show up to participate in the meeting and we elected some new Board members for replacement terms of some tenured Board members.
The following is a recap of important issues discussed and projects for the future of the Homeowners Association.

The Sheriff and some of his staff were there to discuss crime in our neighborhoods and answer some questions about home invasions in our area, and what prevention measures we can take to help with this problem. We reviewed the Annual Financial Report and answered questions from the general membership with regard to expenditures throughout the past calendar year. We also got committee reports from our committee chairs and discussed some issues like the sidewalk on Walnut Grove between Forest Hill Irene and Plantation Oaks entry way. We also heard from Gene Cochran about our Annexation fight and that the judge has indicated this needs to be resolved and cannot sit on the court docket any longer on hold. We expect nothing to happen in this coming year but we may be fighting this in the following year as it comes up for action. We will keep you posted on our new website when more information is available from our attorney. We also discussed our tree replacement project along Walnut Grove, due to disease and heavy wind and weather damage to a number of these trees. Pruning and upkeep will be essential for these trees as they as they grow for the future of these valuable assets to our neighborhood boundary. The fence along this stretch of Walnut Grove has already been repaired, will need replacing in the next one to two years, and has exhausted it’s useful life spam, this will be at a considerable cost to our Homeowner’s Association, but needs replacing. Homeowners along the new fence will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the fence that adjoins their back property line. We have had significant damage to this fence and the majority of the damage has occurred from the property owner’s side of the fence. Last but not least we have a newly revamped website for WGFHA.Com and need our membership to make use of our new improved version.

As we go forward with our Homeowners Association we must remain strong and fight the cities desire to annex our property for future years to come. I will be off the Board after serving as your President for the last two years and consider it a privilege to have served each of you in that capacity. Please take an active role in your own neighborhood area and make it the best it can be, as we welcome new homeowners with so many homes for sale and some in foreclosure or bankruptcy, this is not a good thing but it is where we are with the economy and climate in the housing market, with so many homes for sale.
Let’s hope and pray our economy recovers soon and the housing market improves soon!

Best Regards,
Mike Bunyard, Gardens
